Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to me. This summary explains how I look after your personal information and your rights in relation to it.

I am the Data Controller for any personal data you share with me while receiving counselling, psychotherapy, or supervision.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

I collect only the information necessary to provide safe, ethical, and professional services. This may include:

Contact details (name, address, email, phone number, GP, next of kin)
Basic background information (such as date of birth, gender, ethnicity, religion, relationship and employment status)
Clinical information (assessment notes, session records, attendance and fee records)

Your information is used to:

I only collect what is relevant and necessary.

Your data is kept securely and confidentially:

Electronic records are stored on a GDPR-compliant secure clinical system (BACPAC)
Devices and accounts are password-protected
Paper records are kept in a locked filing cabinet
Access is restricted to authorised individuals who are bound by confidentiality.

In line with BACP guidance and legal requirements, records are kept for up to 7 years after the end of our work, then securely destroyed.

Confidentiality is a core ethical principle. However, information may be shared without consent if:

There is a serious risk of harm to you or others
A child or vulnerable adult is at risk
Disclosure is required by law or a court order
In the event of my death or serious incapacity, in line with my Clinical Will
Where possible, I will discuss this with you first and only share the minimum necessary information.
